2023 Chevrolet Traverse or 2023 Chevrolet Blazer?

If there’s one SUV lineup that’s impressive across the industry, it’s Chevrolet’s. In fact, there isn’t a segment that isn’t covered by it. This is great for the consumer, as they are sure to find what they are looking for here.

However, it can also be confusing when you’re hesitating between two models that, on the surface, offer similar experiences.

This is the case with the Traverse and the Blazer, both of which operate in the same category, that of mid-size SUVs. Let’s take a look at what makes them different.

Two or three rows?

The main difference between the Chevrolet Traverse and Blazer is the interior configuration. The Traverse has a three-row seating arrangement, while the Blazer has two rows.

So, with a family, the Chevrolet Traverse is a better fit, as you get more than five seats to carry the kids and their friends. With the Blazer, you’re more limited.

The space

As you might have guessed, space is more generous with the Chevrolet Traverse, which is a little longer than the Blazer. With the seats folded down, it simply offers more. However, the Blazer is not outdone by the Traverse, which has a generous amount of space in the back.

On this point, it’s your needs that will decide, because only you know what you’re used to carrying in your vehicle.

Handling

What both models serve up is an excellent level of comfort and a solid, reassuring ride. However, if you like something a little more dynamic, the Blazer is where you’ll find it. The chassis settings are more aggressive, so you can drive this model a little more involved. With the Chevrolet Traverse, the focus is on comfort, the great strength of this model.

The mechanics

If you’re looking for a little more fuel economy, the entry-level version of the Blazer can be fitted with a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder engine. This unit delivers 8.7 L/100 km on the highway and 9.9 L/100 km combined. With the Chevrolet Traverse, which can only take the brand’s 3.6-litre V6, the ratings are 9.6 liters on the highway, 11.8 liters in the city. That’s almost a 2.0-liter difference on the open road.

And when the Blazer also gets the 3.6-liter V6 engine, it’s still better than the Chevrolet Traverse with 9.2 liters on the highway, 11.0 liters in the city.

The truth is, we’re looking at two great models here, but SUVs that are simply not aimed at the same buyers. Which camp do you fall into?
